893 Einar 5th Earl Slays Halfdan Haleggson son of King Harold 'Fair or Fine' Hair of Norway. He then had to compensate harold with 60 gold marks and lost his family's udal right over the Earldom and recognised he held it in fee from the King. c976 Skuli 12th Earl 3rd son of Thorfinn. Defeats Ljot after Ljot had received an earldom from the King of Scots but dies after the battle. Succeeded by brother Hlodver St Clairs of the Isles (Sinclair)
